Social Media is Just a Tool: It’s neither Positive nor Negative

Take Instagram as an example…

It has an algorithm that suggests content based on your browsing history and who you currently follow. It merely amplifies the data you feed it and cannot accurately act on its own. How you react to the content you see determines your experience. If seeing happy pictures of your friends or others prompts you to make a comparison and makes you feel worse about yourself, then that isn’t an intended effect of the algorithm, it’s just a product of your mind and thought pattern. Personally, I just use my actual account to look at memes and share them with my friends. I suppose the only malicious intention of social media is that it’s designed to keep you on the platform for as long as possible and conditions you to have a shorter attention span by default. However, you ultimately determine when it’s time to stop using the app for the day, and you can take an extended break from the app if it disrupts your focus.

Anyways, that’s about it, see ya.
