Are you nervous about things returning to normal?

Whether you thrived or struggled during pandemic times, it can be difficult to prepare yourself for returning to more normal circumstances. You might find yourself believing that you are not be prepared, and are anxious about if you will measure up to expectations.

It might be hard to socialize after being isolated for so long, or if you’re a student, you might be worried about whether or not you can readjust to being on-campus. Whatever it may be, the anxiety stems from you believing that you will not measure up to expectations. However, you will be pleasantly surprised that things are not often as difficult as you anticipated. Your brain will readjust to normal circumstances because it has operated in that context before, so it is capable of doing it again, but it might just take some time to adjust.

This adjustment period is natural since the brain has not operated that way in some time, and will likely happen to most people, so there’s no shame in struggling. The best thing you can do is be honest with yourself, and let others know how you are feeling so that they can provide support. You may find others feel the same way, which will help validate your feelings and process them.

That’s about it, see ya.
